Hold on to your receipt rolls, because December 2012 saw HP introduce its new POS system, designed for retail and hospitality businesses.
The HP RP7 (7100 model) is a fanless upgrade of the RP7 All-in-One. It was first demonstrated to potential buyers at HP Discover in December in Germany, and in Shanghai at the Asia Retail Innovation Summit.

The new features of the system include:

• reduced cooling and energy costs via lower energy consumption


• desktop or wall mounting


• fanless design, resistant to splashes, smoke and dust


• optional 10.4-inch customer-facing screen for increased advertising opportunities

The POS is designed to be usable within a number of different environments, catering to the individual needs of the retailer.
Ray Carlin, general manager and VP of HP’s retail solutions describes the new system as “broadening [HP’s] portfolio to meet the unique needs of our customers.” He also described the system as “highly reliable.”
